Casual Passenger Assistant – Dorset CouncilWe are recruiting Casual Passenger Assistants to support young people with additional needs in the Yeovil / Sherborne area. This is a term‑time only position, commencing at £12.85 per hour.About Dorset TravelDorset Travel was formed in 2008 and is committed to providing a high‑quality service for the residents of Dorset. As a team, we coordinate and support the home‑to‑school transport provision to Special Education Needs Establishments and mainstream schools, as well as transport for adult day centre visitors, members of the public and child care provision. The combined in‑house and contracted fleet carries over 13,000 passengers every day on various services and routes across Dorset.ResponsibilitiesSupport young people providing additional assistance in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school, either on a one‑to‑one basis or on shared transport.Cover regular Passenger Assistant absences.Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures and report hazards promptly.QualificationsKnowledge of moderate and complex learning needs.Understanding of safeguarding children.Recognition of hazards and how to report them.Ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of passenger assistant.TrainingDorset Travel is an accredited training centre.
