Overview The Senior Wheelchair Technician will provide technical expertise and is responsible for maintenance, repair, refurbishment and modification of manual and powered wheelchairs and associated equipment. The post holder will support the Workshop Supervisor in providing technical input and assist the Clinicians at the assessment of service user needs. Responsible for training/supp‑port of Technicians in equipment provision ensuring that Technicians have received training and support to compete their competencies and that they are working within their competence. To actively participate, advise and assist the Clinicians in the clinic sessions where adjustments to wheelchairs and seating systems, fitting of belts and harnesses and assembling equipment is required. To make and fit modifications to wheelchairs as requested by Clinicians in line with manufacturers instructions. Give advice to Clinicians as to the technical feasibility of modifications according to manufacturers' guidelines. To fault find and carry out the more complex wheelchair repair and maintenance in the most appropriate location, utilising the Trust vehicle as required. To produce technical drawings of modifications to wheelchairs and actioning and making these. To repair/refurbish manual and powered wheelchairs as per Medical Devices Control Assurance Guidelines.
