Graduate Hydraulic Consultant Binnies Bradford-On-Avon, England, United Kingdom – remote working opportunities available. We are recruiting a Graduate Hydraulic Consultant to join our Flood, Coastal and Environment team across Chester, Bradford-on-Avon, Swansea, Redhill, or Glasgow. The successful candidate will help deliver our client's flood and coastal erosion risk management programme, Reservoirs Act compliance works, flood mapping updates, fish passage improvements and river restoration work. They will develop and work with hydraulic models at local, catchment and national scales and manage flood risk sources including fluvial, coastal and surface water. Roles and Responsibilities Undertake hydrological analysis for model inputs Prepare scopes for topographic and channel surveys Develop hydraulic models from survey data, check and review third‑party models Validate models against gauged data Appraise flood risk management solutions and residual risk Author clear, concise and technically accurate modelling reports Author Flood Risk Assessments / Flood Consequence Assessments to support planning applications Communicate effectively as part of a distributed and multi‑disciplinary team and manage time and resources effectively Show a desire to grow with the company, progress within the industry and achieve a professional qualification (e.g., CIWEM) Required Qualifications Degree (2:1 or above) in geography, engineering, environmental science or other relevant subject (other relevant technical qualification may be considered) Preferably a relevant post‑graduate qualification Hold a valid UK driving licence for site visits Required Awareness and Knowledge Knowledge and understanding of basic hydrological and hydraulic principles and their practical application Aware of how modelling software is used (e.g., Flood Modeller, TUFLOW/ESTRY and HEC‑RAS) Aware of hydrological assessment using rainfall‑runoff (e.g., ReFH2) and statistical methods Knowledge and understanding of GIS software, preferably ArcGIS or QGIS Awareness of the National Planning Policy Framework and Planning Policy Wales in relation to assessing and managing flood risk Knowledge of programming/macro writing (e.g., python scripts) Benefits Competitive salary Flexible working (part‑time available, remote working for part of the role) Flexible benefits: buy annual leave, varying pension contributions, options for private healthcare Continuous training and development – tailored training agreements towards chartership Working in a professional environment with high ENGAGED values Private Health Insurance Income Protection High Street Vouchers Life Assurance Annual Leave Purchase Cycle to Work Scheme Discounted Gym Membership Mental Health Support Electric Vehicle Salary Sacrifice Scheme About Us We develop intelligent solutions using our award‑winning integrated planning and design approach to deliver functional infrastructure and lasting environmental and social legacies.
