Consultant Oculoplastic Ophthalmologist – Antistatique We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our Ophthalmology Service at Dorset County Hospital. This is a new appointment in a team of four Consultants, leading and supporting our Oculoplastic Ophthalmology services. The role is ideal for a specialist with Oculoplastic experience and a strong clinical and research interest that complements the existing department. Key details: Date posted: 25 November 2025 Pay scheme: Hospital medical and dental staff Grade: Consultant Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro‑rata) Contract: Permanent Working pattern: Part‑time (0.7 WTE – 28 hours) Reference number: 405‑MD2584OPH Job location: Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester, DT1 2JY Job Summary Lead and support our Oculoplastic Ophthalmology services with a focus on delivering high‑quality patient care. The post-holder will work closely with a dedicated Ophthalmology team and contribute to service and clinical innovation. Main duties Provide specialist care for Oculoplastic patients. Participate in a 1:5 Saturday AM casualty clinic session; no other out‑of‑hours on‑call commitment. Develop clinically and research opportunities, actively encouraged. Support team development and service improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Experience Full GMC registration. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT within 6 months of interview). CESAR or European Community Rights. Appropriate higher surgical or medical qualification. 7 years clinical experience in the relevant specialty. Demonstrated ability to cope with the demands of a DGH‑based Consultant. Special interest complementing existing departmental expertise. Evidence of understanding of clinical governance; audit involvement; research principles. General management training and organisational skill; experience contributing to strategic direction. Teaching and communication skills; effective presentation ability. Leadership and service development evidence; effective team working. Disclosure & Sponsorship Applicants must undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. Skilled worker sponsorship is welcomed and will be considered if required. Current UK professional registration is mandatory.
