Consultant Psychiatrist – Redwood 2, Highbury Hospital Location: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation TrustWard: Redwood 2 – Female Acute Inpatient Ward (16 beds)Contract: Substantive, Full-Time Why Join Us ✅ Golden Hello: 20% of the minimum point of the National Consultant (2003) contract ✅ Professional Development: Part of the North School of Psychiatry & East Midlands Deanery ✅ Educational Leadership: Guided by Dr Debasis Das (Head of School) & Dr Kehinde Junaid (Director of Medical Education) ✅ Supportive Team: Work with experienced clinicians, junior doctors & a strong MDT ✅ Impactful Role: Make a real difference in acute mental health care across Nottinghamshire Your Role Lead clinical care for Redwood 2, managing 16 beds (with rare flexibility up to 20) Provide senior medical leadership & supervision to junior doctors and trainees Engage in service development, business planning, and academic programmes Maintain compliance with GMC registration, Mental Health Act Section 12(2) approval, and professional codes Main Responsibilities ✅ Manage, appraise, and provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff ✅ Ensure compliance with New Dealand Working Time Directive for junior doctors ✅ Undertake administrative duties associated with patient care ✅ Accurately record and submit clinical activity data ✅ Participate in service and business planning for the locality and wider mental health service ✅ Engage in annual consultant appraisal and job plan review ✅ Attend and contribute to the Trust’s academic programme and CPD activities ✅ Maintain GMC registration, Section 12(2) approval, and professional standards ✅ Collaborate with managers and colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery ✅ Support financial planning and management within the service ✅ Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based senior medical care in acute and locked rehabilitation settings ✅ Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide person‑centred care ✅ Foster therapeutic relationships with patients and carers What We’re Looking For ✅ GMC registration & inclusion on the Specialist Register ✅ Commitment to evidence‑based, patient‑centred care ✅ Strong leadership and collaborative skills Interested?Join us at Nottinghamshire Healthcare and be part of a team that values innovation, compassion, and excellence in mental health care.
