Credit Underwriter – Asset Finance – Manchester

Our client is a well recognised name in the leasing sector. Through expansion they are looking for a Credit Underwriter where you willprovide effective, timely and commercial B2B risk-based underwriting on new finance applications for end users requiring a larger credit line. Often working as an undisclosed lender the Underwriter will ideally have some experience producing the appropriate Credit Papers themselves without the introduction through existing Sales Managers or other intermediaries.The ideal candidate will have direct experience of underwriting, ideally specialising invehicle or hard assets with a credit mandate minimum of £500k.RESPONSIBILITIES:Compose and check all credit application documentation for new applications are correct and adherence to credit policy is met and to ensure full compliance with current legislation and regulatory requirementsAct as a trusted advisor to other colleagues in both credit and the wider business to grow awareness and understanding of the risks and good governance of the credit function.Having followed the above requirements be able to provide an accept / decline / AFI decision and be accountable for it should questions be asked.Work to a high degree of accuracy to ensure reporting figures are accurate and timely to support the contract hire companies manage their portfolio of prospects.General understanding of how to evaluate vehicles using systems such as CAPEnsure prompt and professional answering of the phone and handling of queries.Provide a high level of customer support and communication regarding the credit process and the decisions takenSupport our sales teams with regards to the quality and quantity of applications submitted by our Contract Hire and Dealer partners to assist them in the management of the wider relationship.WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:Prior experience of underwriting Commercial business in a vehicle finance or hard asset environment.Previous mandate in roles to be at least £500kTenacity to pick up queries and opportunities quickly and solve them within a structured environment.Understanding of Excel and simple / intermediate calculations.Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skillsExperience and a willingness to work to KPIs and SLAs agreed within the teamThe ability to multitask and prioritise tasks on a daily basis in a busy role.The ability to adapt to different working situation when requiredContact:In the first instance please send your cv to Mark Lyons atmark@marklyonsrecruitment.com or call 0161 258 0053 or 07470 476320 for a confidential discussion£80,000 – £90,000+ plus excellent bonus and benefits.
