Clinical Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care

The closing date is 14 December 2025 Clinical Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care The post is suitable for anaesthetists wishing to enhance their specialist experience in all aspects of adult cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care, including transplantation, mechanical assist devices, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, focused ultrasounds examinations and perioperative transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE). Applicants will be expected to have completed or be within two years of completing their anaesthetic training. Main duties of the job To participate fully in the delivery of anaesthetic and critical care services, research, and training and educational programmes; To maintain a logbook and appropriate records of progress; To participate in regular performance reviews; To provide an out of hours service; The "ICU" anaesthetic Specialist Registrar (Resident) will provide immediate support for the critical care areas and emergency resuscitation support for the entire hospital; The "Theatre" anaesthetic Specialist Registrar or Clinical Fellow will assist the on–call consultant with out of hours theatre cases and is also responsible for intra– and interhospital transfers; To complete accurate records, such as patient notes and medical audit records; Participation in teaching of junior medical staff, undergraduate students and other non–medical staff as required by the hospital; Participation in clinical audit activities as directed by the consultant anaesthetists; To adhere to the hospital and departmental policy for the booking and taking of leave; The Department is actively involved in both basic and clinical research. Encouragement is given to participate in ongoing research projects; Trainees will be required to observe all hospital policies and procedures, and appropriate clinical procedures.
