This post offers the chance to develop your clinical and leadership skills, acting as a deputy to the part‑time clinical specialist. You will supervise the team and play a key role in promoting evidence‑based practice and service development. We are an innovative team passionate about the specialist service we provide, offering skilled development in both stroke and long‑term conditions.ResponsibilitiesProvide advanced specialist Occupational Therapy input to clients as part of the specialist Community Neurorehabilitation service.Exercise clinical leadership in partnership with the Principal OT to ensure the highest possible standards of practice, including supervision and support of junior staff and students.Support the Team Manager in establishing and monitoring a robust clinical governance framework.Deliver services in clients’ homes, care homes, community settings, and our outpatient gym.Hold a full UK driving licence and preferably have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.Work independently in community settings, assess, diagnose and treat highly complex neurological conditions, utilising evidence‑based practice to create individual rehabilitation plans.Monitor and review clients, modifying care plans as needed to achieve goals.Conduct clinical risk assessments and complete risk management plans.Engage in joint patient assessment/treatment with junior staff as required.Communicate effectively with team members and the wider clinical network.Provide advice, education and second opinions to clients, carers, relatives and junior colleagues.Maintain up‑to‑date clinical records and electronic databases.Write comprehensive discharge and progress reports.Triage referrals to meet waiting‑time targets and allocate appropriate staff.Arrange provision of rehabilitative equipment.Identify and manage the mental, emotional and vocational needs of clients.Person SpecificationEducation & Qualification (Essential)Recognised Occupational Therapy Degree qualification.Successful completion of specialist short courses at MSc level relevant to neuro‑rehabilitation.Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration.Education & Qualification (Desirable)Evidence of leadership development (e.g., qualifications or courses).Registered member of BAOT specialist Neuro section.Experience (Essential)Minimum 3 years experience working with an adult client group in neuro‑rehabilitation/stroke.Evidence of recent Continuing Professional and Personal Development in neurological conditions/stroke.Proven multidisciplinary team working.Experience in a community setting.Experience of supervising and contributing to service development.Experience (Desirable)Experience of developing and delivering training packages.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Essential)Professional and clinical knowledge acquired through training and practice.Experience of developing and using relevant outcome measures.Demonstrated analytical and reflective skills – clinical reasoning.Ability to provide clinical leadership and manage change.In‑depth knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to the specialist client group.Excellent teaching and presentation skills, both written and verbal.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Desirable)Ability to manage poor performance of others.Experience of leading clinical audits.Excellent awareness of current research in relevant areas.Personal Qualities (Essential)Self‑motivated, with strong reflective appraisal of own performance.Excellent interpersonal skills – observation, listening, empathy.Commitment to the principles of reablement and inclusion.Other (Essential)Driving licence.Car ownership or access to a vehicle for work.Additional InformationDisclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check.Certificate of Sponsorship: Applications from job seekers who require a Skilled Worker visa are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications.
