About the area The School of Biological Sciences is a large and multidisciplinary team of more than 100 high‑calibre academic and professional staff delivering world‑class education and research programmes to approximately 800 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The School is also responsible for the supervision of ~120 PhD students, reflecting research strengths and expertise in the disciplines of Marine Biology, Animal Biology, Computational Biology, Ecology & Conservation, Evolutionary Biology, Neuroscience, Plant Biology and Science Communication. Many of our team are also active members of the UWA Oceans Institute, which brings together the University’s multidisciplinary research strengths across oceanography, ecology, engineering, resource management and governance to address key ocean challenges for Western Australia, the Indian Ocean and the world. About the opportunity Deliver independent teaching in UWA’s zoology and ecology programs across undergraduate and master’s levels. Develop and coordinate innovative biology teaching units and field courses, covering diverse taxa and habitats. Contribute to school governance, inclusion initiatives, and administrative duties as directed. About you PhD in a field relevant to Zoology. Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate and Masters by Coursework levels across a variety of settings, including in the field. Experience in the development and the use of innovative teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses in zoology. Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to team, school and wider University activities such as team and school meetings, strategic planning and program development. Demonstrated skills in the design and implementation of field and laboratory‑based experiments in zoology and analysis of zoological experiments. Note: A current “C” class driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant. Occasional travel within the state and some after‑hours work may be required.
