Children's Research Nurse

Overview Our team of children’s research nurses deliver world‑class care to patients participating in clinical trials across our NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and Research Delivery Network: North Thames. The BEENO study will run across 5 sites (GOSH, Royal Brompton, St Georges, Kings and Royal London) who manage the care of children and young people with complex asthma in London. Some of our recent successes include the Summit plc trial, to which the first two global patients were recruited in the CRF, and a BioMarin Pharmaceuticals sponsored clinical trial that has led to the approval of VIMIZIM as a treatment for Morquio A syndrome. These successes demonstrate the importance of the research nurse contribution in delivering high quality and complex clinical studies for paediatric and rare diseases. We are looking to recruit motivated, enthusiastic individuals to our research nurse posts. Our team of nurses work across a range of specialties, including dermatology, endocrinology, nephrology, gastroenterology, metabolic, and neurology, in partnership with the clinical specialty teams. Responsibilities Recruit participants and facilitate the consent process. Administer the clinical interventions required as part of the study (e.g. IV drug infusions). Observe and respond to side effects (e.g. anaphylaxis). Liaise with drug companies and other study sponsors. Ensure the accurate collection and submission of data in line with study protocols and research regulations. Deputise for the Children’s Research Nurses in their absence and support the development of new members of the CRF team. Balance core hours (Mon – Fri 08.00‑18.00) with occasional early evenings, nights, on call and weekend duties depending on trial requirements.
