Job Summary Adult Community Specialist Speech & Language Therapist - Band 6 Salary: £44,485 - £52,521 Inc HCAS Per annum pro rata (Full & Part‑time considered) Application considered for full or part‑time candidates. Postgraduate training and experience in dysphagia and independent dysphagia management is a requirement of this post. Essential: Relevant experience in managing adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties, evidence of appropriate qualification and HCPC membership, driving/car access essential. Interviews to be held week commencing 15 December 2025. Responsibilities Delivering high quality clinical care in the community in line with the national drive in preventative care. Partaking in a full quality improvement project with support from the organisation's QI lead and senior therapists. Providing FEES competencies and supporting in‑house, SLT led FEES service. Assisting the reshaping of our service provision to local care home residents, including looking at models of delivery, streamlining the service and helping leads to review data capture. Supervision of SLT students and assistants. Person Specification Qualifications Recognised speech & language therapy degree qualification or equivalent. Training Evidence of Continuing Professional Development. Evidence of appropriate external and internal training as appropriate to specialism. Desirable Completion of clinical supervision training. Previous FEES experience. Experience Substantial clinical experience with an adult acquired caseload. Assessment, treatment and management of complex patients with progressive neurological conditions. Experience of working with other professionals relevant to client groups. Experience of undertaking appraisal and planning CPD for less experienced staff. Experience of being involved in clinical audit, service evaluation and quality improvement. Personal Qualities Good interpersonal skills / teamwork. Knowledge of BHC. Professional Registration Health and Care Professions Council licence to practice. Skills Able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the management of communication patients. To be able to independently assess and manage patients with dysphagia. To be competent in handling the emotional and psychosocial aspects of working with a complex SLT caseload in the community. Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions for dysphagia and communication and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits. Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance. Knowledge of national policies and procedures (such as NICE, NSF and Disability Discrimination Act).
