Postdoctoral Research Associate – Pure Mathematics We are inviting applications for the role of Postdoctoral Research Associate in Pure Mathematics at The University of Manchester. The position will commence in January 2026 and will run for a fixed term of three years. Project Details When successful you will work with Dr Florian Eisele on the EPSRC funded project “Group representations: orders, lattices and deformations”. The project aims to study modular and integral representations of finite groups using methods from the representation theory of finite‑dimensional algebras, including deformation theory, and to advance the modular representation theory of profinite groups. Key Responsibilities Conduct research on modular and integral representations of finite groups and profinite groups. Develop new methods in deformation theory and representation theory. Publish results in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences. Collaborate with colleagues on the EPSRC project and contribute to project reports. Qualifications and Experience PhD in pure mathematics with a focus on representation theory of algebras, finite groups, or profinite groups. Strong background in modular and integral representation theory, and/or deformation theory. Experience in publishing research and working within a research group.
