Description Overview The Production Team Manager is part of the production management team and manages a team of operators (typically 10–20 people, sometimes more temporarily) responsible for activities across a group of production lines in manufacturing or packing. Additional reports may include Line Coordinators (packing) and Tool Room Technicians (manufacturing). Key responsibilities include: Achieving safety, quality, volume, cost, and behavioural targets. Escalating deviations promptly. Managing training, appraisals, attendance reviews, recruitment support, and disciplinary investigations. Reporting to the Production Shift Manager and liaising with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Quality) and occasionally external stakeholders. Scope of the Role Manage production line activities to meet the production plan and optimise priorities. Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Lead investigations and improvement projects related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, or behaviour. Maintain and update procedural documentation. Motivate the team to achieve targets (e.g., safety inspections, production plan adherence, cost improvements). Conduct reviews, appraisals, and attendance management. Develop and implement training plans. Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Health & Safety policies. Act as a role model for safety and quality culture. Experience Required Numeracy and literacy skills to at least Level 2 (Maths and English). Competent in MS Office. Working knowledge of workplace safety principles. Supervisory experience, ideally in a Fast‑Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment. Demonstrated company core values and performance pillars (or equivalent for external candidates). Strong communication skills for internal and occasional external stakeholders. Ability to listen and influence others. 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (or equivalent), including English and Maths. Working knowledge of quality systems in a regulated environment. Recognised supervision and/or continuous improvement qualification. Benefits We believe our people are our greatest asset.
