SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-time, daily supply from as soon as possibleThese flexible opportunities are ideal for SEMH Teaching Assistants who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different secondary school settings in Wigan and the surrounding areas.Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:Support students with social, emotional and mental health needs in both classroom and 1:1 settingsWork closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement behaviour and support plansHelp students develop positive relationships, emotional regulation and resilienceAssist with classroom management and promote a calm, inclusive learning environmentProvide tailored academic support to help students access the curriculumMonitor progress and contribute to reviews and target settingIdeal SEMH Teaching Assistant:Has recent experience supporting young people with SEMH needs in a secondary school or similar settingDemonstrates strong behaviour management skills and a calm, empathetic approachIs confident working with students who may display challenging behaviourHolds a relevant qualification or has equivalent experience in youth work, education or careHas a clear Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to obtain oneStep Teachers is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All candidates registering with Step Teachers are subject to safeguarding checks in line with the DfE’s statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education, including reference checks and an Enhanced DBS check either registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.Your salary - dependent on experience - is paid weekly through PAYE – that means no self-employed or umbrella companies.
