Senior/Principal Urban Drainage Modeller Join Sweco, Europe’s leading design, engineering, environment and regulatory consultancy, to work in the Water department in Bristol as a Senior/Principal Urban Drainage Modeller. We’re looking for individuals who can challenge conventional thinking, collaborate with clients, and deliver technical excellence in urban drainage modelling projects. Role Overview Within our Urban Drainage Modelling Team you will lead modelling work, manage cost and programme, and supervise a team of junior modellers. Your work will involve feasibility studies, model building, verification, surface water management plans and development impact assessments. Core Duties And Responsibilities Work within agreed deliverables, key milestones, project methodology, and quality assurance and control strategy. Lead project delivery tasks, including engagement with clients’ technical teams. Provide technical guidance, support and training to less experienced colleagues. Develop modelling processes and create innovative modelling tools. Lead a range of different types of modelling projects for clients in both the public and private sector. To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have Experience in the build and verification of integrated catchment models and/or solution development using Infoworks ICM. Experience of water quality modelling and/or undertaking UPM studies (advantageous). Experience of GIS (e.g. ArcGIS or Mapinfo) and Infoworks ICM hydraulic modelling software (essential). A track record in mentoring team members less experienced in this field. Experience of managing projects and acting as technical discipline lead on urban drainage modelling projects (advantageous). Experience in managing modelling teams from a commercial/financial perspective (beneficial). Understanding of the market and interest in business development to help expand and diversify our client range (welcomed). For the Principal role: must be chartered with an appropriate institute (e.g., ICE or CIWEM) or close to achieving chartered status. What’s in it for you?
