The post holder will act as the keyworker to all suspected and diagnosed Gynaecology cancer patients and, using excellent communication skills, provide holistic patient-centred assessment and care. Provide psychological support and care, advice, information for patients and carers/families. Have the ability to work autonomously and independently but within a collaborative integrated team. Support the development and provision of the Head & Neck cancer nursing service, working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, across the Trust. Act as a resource and advise health and social care personnel on any aspects of patients' therapeutic programmes of care. Main duties of the job Gynaecology Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist - Band 7 We are excited to be able to offer the opportunity of a 10-month secondment or fixed-term post in our friendly team of Gynaecology and Head & Neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists. We are keen to support internal and external requests for secondment or a fixed-term contract. This role will suit a knowledgeable and skilled nurse with gynaecology support and care experience who is interested in developing cancer knowledge and skills. You will need relevant experience in gynaecology and/or oncology. As a Gynaecology Cancer CNS you will work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team ensuring that patients with malignancies receive the highest standard of care and support from the time of referral, diagnosis and during the cancer pathway. Working in partnership with our regional centres and specialist cancer providers you will manage these patients across the pathways of care. You will act as a Key Worker for a clinical caseload, working to coordinate care and provide easy access for ongoing support for patients. You will facilitate and support healthcare teams to implement evidence based practice, and will contribute to the development of the clinical nurse specialist service. About us Welcome to the Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. We offer an extensive range of services, including cancer, pathology, surgery, and gynaecology to over 490,000 people in south west London and north east Surrey. We operate two busy general hospitals, Epsom Hospital and St Helier Hospital, and run services from other locations, including Sutton Hospital. We are also part of two innovative integrated care partnerships – Sutton Health and Care and Surrey Downs Health and Care. St Helier Hospital is home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, while Epsom Hospital is home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
