Consultant Psychiatrist – Manchester Eating Disorder Service Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust Job Summary The service wishes to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist with considerable experience in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders in our Manchester Eating Disorder team. This position is based in a community setting at Gaskell House, close to the Manchester Royal Infirmary. Responsibilities Undertake joint assessments of referrals/admissions requiring direct Consultant input. Diagnose and formulate management plans for complex presentations and for CAMHS transfers of care where indicated. Provide assessment and management of complex and co‑morbid presentations, including patients with physical or learning disabilities. Assess and manage risk, including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others. Conduct investigations, interpret results, and liaise with GPs and acute specialties as required. Prescribe and titrate medications within a defined Shared Care Protocol, or advise General Practitioners when protocols are not agreed. Provide defined clinical supervision to specific team members or as part of the MDT. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Participate actively in referral/liaison meetings, internal MDT meetings, and attend discharge‑planning meetings for a small, selected group of patients. Carry a small caseload of monitoring and stability patients with longstanding eating disorders. Offer clinical advice and liaison to colleagues in primary care, community services and acute specialties within the time constraints and capacity of the allocated Direct Clinical Programmed Activities.
