Direct line management of Prison Custody Officers (PCOs) and Operational Support staff (OSGs). Support, supervise, motivate, and monitor staff to deliver effective services across the prison. Lead the delivery of a safe, secure, and decent environment, fostering a rehabilitative and restorative culture for staff and prisoners. Apply safeguarding principles to ensure the safety and well‑being of prisoners and their families. Utilise a trauma‑informed approach to support recovery and rehabilitation. Collaborate with partners and service providers to develop strategic approaches and encourage continuous improvement. Deliver effective staff care and well‑being support through supervision and training. Promote and maintain high standards of cleanliness, order, and security. Requirements Previous relevant experience in a custodial / secure environment. Previous managerial experience. Basic–intermediate IT skills, e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and experience updating central data systems. Technical knowledge of relevant prison legislation, policies, standards, inspection and audit processes, and knowledge of the wider criminal justice system is preferred but not essential.
