We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic midwife who will provide clinical and managerial midwifery leadership within the maternity unit. The post holder will be a registered Midwife who will co‑ordinate the Systematic Examination of the Newborn (SEN) service at Royal London Maternity services in line with National Screening standards. The SEN Practitioner will be responsible for the management and delivery of the SEN programme and will provide leadership, clinical expertise, and support across all maternity clinical areas where SEN is carried out. The SEN Lead will monitor day‑to‑day compliance with the SEN programme standards, including monitoring the S4N failsafe for all babies born at this unit or returning to our catchment area to ensure the SEN is undertaken within 72 hours of birth. They will be based in clinical practice, responsible for ensuring that standards of care are always upheld. The purpose of this role is to act as a Midwifery Lead in the team carrying out Examination of the Newborn (EON) and Neonatal and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) screening assessments, playing a key role in achieving screening standards and quality of care. Responsibilities Support the Screening Coordinator in delivering the NIPE screening programme across maternity. Lead and initiate quality improvement projects related to screening. Educate and assess staff on EON and NIPE processes. Collaborate with the Maternity Safety and Quality team to review clinical incidents and identify areas of good practice. Maintain accurate database records and understand data quality issues. Ensure computer literacy and up‑to‑date knowledge of screening standards. Qualifications Registered Midwife with relevant clinical experience. Complete training in Examination of the Newborn (EON). Extensive knowledge of the NIPE screening programme. Experience delivering clinical leadership and managing programmes. Strong interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills.
