Job Description

Castle Point Borough Council is seeking two dedicated and compassionate Sheltered Housing Officers to join our Sheltered Housing Team. These temporary roles (3 months) are on-site, 5 days per week, and will support the delivery of a resident-focused, data-led, and performance-driven sheltered housing service.

You will play a key role in supporting older and vulnerable residents, ensuring a safe, supportive, and well-managed environment within our sheltered housing schemes.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the day-to-day operations of a sheltered housing scheme

* Carry out tenant inductions, daily welfare checks, and maintain support plans

* Ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements, including fire safety and telecare systems

* Liaise with external agencies to coordinate support and social activities for residents

* Promote resident independence while fostering a strong sense of community

* Respond to safeguarding concerns and maintain accurate, up-to-date records

* Participate in an emergency out-of-hours rota

About You

We’re looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

* Clear, empathetic communication with older and vulnerable people

* Experience working with or caring for older adults, vulnerable individuals, or people with long-term disabilities

* The ability to work independently and stay calm under pressure

* Good IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office

* Strong customer service and relationship-building skills

* Experience in sheltered housing or similar support environments

* Knowledge of safeguarding and assistive technologies such as telecare

* A flexible attitude, especially when required to respond to emergencies

* A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance
