Motorman for Balearia RoRo Passenger FerriesDepartment: EngineEmployment Type: ContractLocation: ShipboardDescriptionWe are looking for experienced MOTORMAN ready to join BALEARIA RoRo Passenger ferries - embarkation ASAP, contract 4 months +/-1, required all valid Certificates including certificates for Ro/Pax ships - STCW Reg.V/2, for MM we require STCW Reg.III/5, PSCRB and AFF Certificates.Note: Required valid Schengen visa for Filipino candidates.Position SummaryResponsible to assist with the execution of routine checks of machinery, tanks, bilge and pump rooms along with the daily operation and maintenance of machinery.Reporting StructureReporting to the First Engineer and on duty Engineer.Safety DutiesParticipates in crew safety drills according to instructions.Must always comply with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others.Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly.Education/Experience/QualificationsValid STCW 95 certification.Valid ASE A-III/5.Good knowledge and operation of the works on the Lathe machine.Good welding skills (electric, gas welding).Good knowledge of mechanics, operation and maintenance of vessel machinery and mechanical equipment.Experience on vessels in an equivalent position.Physically and medically fit.Moral integrity is required.Language requirementsExcellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial.Physical Demands and Working ConditionsRequired to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting. Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders. Lifting or pushing of up to 50lbs. The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules. Works in the Engine Control Room, Engine spaces with noise, light traffic, distracting environments.ProfilePunctual.Proactive approach to problem solving.Ability to be flexible, well organised, self managed and motivated.Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm and effective under pressure and resolve issues quickly.Safe, professional and personal practices. Well acquainted with VMS and MLC requirements.Well-groomed and neat appearance.Ability to work in confined spaces.Ability to live in close quarters, share limited space with cabin mates.Ability to deliver a high standard of technical performance.Key ResponsibilitiesStands engine watch as instructed by the Staff Engineer.Continuously supervises and inspects machinery spaces during watch and promptly reports any deficiencies or malfunctions to the on duty engineer.The Motorman is responsible for maintenance and repair of the following equipment, under direct supervision of the daily 1st Engineer / Hotel Engineer (to include but not limited to the following):Maintenance of Diesel Generators and Main Engines.Cylinder head maintenance and overhaul.Turbocharger maintenance.Engine main bearings, big end bearings and small end bearings maintenance/overhaul.Engine attached pumps maintenance and repair.Maintenance and calibration of the fuel injection valves.Maintenance and calibration of the fuel injection pumps.Maintenance and repair of pipes, valves, heat exchangers and filters for fuel system, lube oil system, cooling systems, charging air system and exhaust gas system.Inspection and cleaning of hot boxes.Cleaning of the fuel filters, lubricating oil filters and air filters.Any other maintenance related to Diesel Generators and Main Engines.Maintenance of Lifeboats/Tenders/Rescue boats.Inspection and maintenance of engines, including fuel system (low and high pressure), lubrication system, cooling system (sea water and fresh water) and exhaust gas system.Inspection and maintenance of gearboxes/inverters.Inspection and maintenance of propeller shaft sealing.To be part of the technical loading team during intake of provisions.To provide technical assistance during the ship’s tendering operations.Assists with general maintenance (to include but not limited to the following):Cleaning.Painting.Repairs.Keeps the Chief Engineer, Staff Engineer and duty Engineer promptly and fully informed of all problems, matters of significance and any issues that may compromise the ships safety and any deficiencies found in the machinery or equipment.Must be competent in using the internal communications systems and have good knowledge of the engine room alarms.Responsible for informing the on duty Engineer whenever leaving the engine room to perform duties elsewhere.Keeping supervisors fully informed of the progress of any work undertaken and any defects or problems in his allocated area of responsibility.Responsible for keeping the engine room and all other machinery areas clean, along with all parts and tools used.Accountable for ensuring that Company, Public Health, National and International standards are maintained and meeting requirements. Reporting to the Staff Engineer any instances where the ship is unable or fails to comply.Observes and enforces uniform and grooming standards according to Company policies.Ensures that other team members are informed and updated on the occurrences during the watch.Practices good people management, maintaining proper conduct within the Engine department and other departments around the ship.General engine room and all other duties as assigned by supervisors.RequirementsNOTE: all ratings on board are in shared cabins #J-18808-Ljbffr
