CTC Transgenic Technician Location: The University of Edinburgh. This is a full‑time, permanent contract position (Grade UE05) with a salary of £29,588–£33,951 per annum. Opportunity We are recruiting an enthusiastic and talented technician to join our Central Transgenic Core team. This technician post is a critical part of a small team that generates new models of human disease in rodent species. You will perform regulated procedural work to create gene‑edited and genetically‑modified animals that feed into our internationally‑recognised research programmes. Associated activities include in vitro fertilisation, cryopreservation, embryo transfer, colony management and data recording. Full training will be given, but a background in transgenic animal production and husbandry is an advantage. Key Responsibilities Perform regulated procedural work to create gene‑edited and genetically‑modified animals. Conduct in vitro fertilisation, cryopreservation, embryo transfer and colony management. Maintain detailed records and data related to breeding and experimental procedures. Requirements / Skills Background in transgenic animal production and husbandry is an advantage. Enthusiasm for new scientific endeavour. Good communication skills, with a service provision mindset. Competent IT skills with a good level of accuracy.
