Job SummaryProvide trauma‑informed support to children and young people as outlined in their care plans, ensuring safety, wellbeing, and progress towards education and community participation.ResponsibilitiesProvide daily trauma‑informed support, including cooking meals and maintaining cleanliness of child and home.Promote healthy lifestyle choices through structure and routine expected in family homes.Support engagement with education, training and employment.Promote good relationships with neighbours and the wider community.Facilitate engagement with broader support services and health appointments, as specified in the care plan.Facilitate access to community, cultural and leisure activities aligned with the child’s interests and aspirations.Transport as necessary, holding relevant business use insurance.Promote family‑time contact for children looked after with birth family members, as specified in the care plan.Ensure the child’s views about care, support and accommodation are listened to and acted upon where appropriate.Adhere to the Philomena protocol if the child goes missing—search, contact and report within the allocated period to Social Worker or Duty Worker during out of hours.Support move‑on plans and assist the child’s transition.Maintain a daily logbook/incident book and share with colleagues during staff handovers through an agreed secure method.Notify package managers of all incidents of self‑harm, missing, substance misuse, damage to property and violent/abusive behaviour immediately through the out‑of‑hours EDT.Adhere to all organisational policies relating to Safeguarding, Health and Safety, General Data Protection Regulations.Additional GuidanceSupport workers should not discuss the case with parents/carers or offer personal views.
