General Practitioner

General Practitioner (GP) – Amersham Vale Practice, Waldron Health Centre, New Cross, London (SE14 6LD) Overview We are looking for a salaried GP to work up to 6 sessions per week (minimum 4) at our modern training practice in Deptford, Lewisham. Working days are Tuesday, Wednesday/Thursday, and Friday. The practice is a 16,000‑patient training site with a diverse multi‑disciplinary team including Advanced Nurse Practitioners, an internal Clinical Pharmacist, and regular teaching of medical students and GP registrars. Key Responsibilities The delivery of effective medical care to the entitled population. Provision of services in line with the GP contract. Generic prescribing in accordance with practice and national guidance. Effective management of long‑term conditions. Handling administrative tasks such as referrals, repeat prescriptions and other related duties promptly. Telephone triage and duty doctor roles on a rotational basis. Maintaining accurate clinical records in line with good practice, policy and guidance. Working collaboratively, sharing the practice workload equally. Adhering to best practice recommendations through clinical guidelines and audit processes. Contributing to continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice. Accepting delegated responsibility for specific areas or the QOF. Active participation in practice meetings as required. Contributing to the development and maintenance of practice governance, training, financial management and HR. Ensuring compliance with appraisal and revalidation processes. Committing to self‑learning and fostering a culture of continuing professional development. Supporting the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines. Supporting partners in achieving strategic aims, enhancing income and reducing expenditure. Reviewing and adhering to practice protocols and policies. Encouraging collaborative working, liaising with staff regularly and promoting continuous improvement culture. Secondary Responsibilities Participating in practice audits and local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care. Reviewing significant and near‑miss events, applying structured approaches such as root cause analysis. Referring and signposting service users to appropriate services for mental, physical and social health needs. Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining high standards of record keeping. Achieving agreed standards of personal and professional development. Contributing positively to team effectiveness and efficiency. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Qualified GP, MRCGP, and General Practitioner (CCT). Full GMC registration and National Performers List registration. Appropriate defense indemnity (MPS/MDU) and eligibility to practice independently in the UK. Intermediate IT literacy – ability to use multiple patient‑record systems. Demonstrated ability to manage own caseload, time, and meet performance targets. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience working in a primary care environment and continuing professional development. Experience with QOF, clinical audit and understanding of GMS/PMS contracts. Experience addressing diversity issues within a multicultural framework. Knowledge of audit processes and structured root cause analysis. Desirable: Experience in medicines management. Experience in ICB initiatives. Salary & Contract Salary: £12,000 to £12,200 per session, depending on experience. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full‑time or Part‑time, 4–6 sessions per week.
