Job Description Sewerage Technical Advisor – 32397 (Environment Agency). The role is key to developing and implementing new regulatory approaches for the wastewater sector, focusing on sewer hydraulic modelling and water quality improvement. Responsibilities Design and deliver audits and investigations of water quality under the Storm Overflows Assessment Framework and Environment Act. Co‑develop training courses on Urban Pollution Management (UPM), respond to technical queries and coach staff on sewerage and water‑quality investigations. Use experience of building and using sewer hydraulic and modelling tools to inform sector guidance and ensure programme delivery. Work proactively with Environment Agency teams and external organisations to embed new processes and approaches across dispersed teams. Optionally support incident response or business continuity operations, with additional pay and training available. Qualifications A relevant degree (civil engineering, geography, environmental science or similar) with demonstrated professional experience. Practical experience in sewer modelling and/or river‑quality impact modelling for UPM studies, including model audits. Knowledge of environmental planning and regulation of Water and Sewerage Companies. Excellent organisational and coaching skills, with a track record of embedding new approaches. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining effective collaboration across the country.
