Job Overview The post holder will play a key role in the coordination of data for Southmead Hospital, the Adult Major Trauma Centre (MTC) in the Severn Major Trauma Network. The role involves extracting, interpreting, and submitting clinical information from patient records of all major trauma patients admitted to this MTC in line with national deadlines, guidance and requirements for the National Major Trauma Registry (NMTR). The MTC is part of the Severn Major Trauma Operational Delivery Network and therefore there is a supportive component to the extended Trauma Units and Children’s Major Trauma Centre within the Severn network. This post also requires providing efficient and timely administrative duties to the Major Trauma Centre (MTC) Management team and Major Trauma Practitioners (MTPs). The Major Trauma Service delivers a 7‑day a week service and therefore the post holder may need to be part of occasional weekend cover as part of a rota. Main Duties of the Job Extracting and interpreting relevant information from patient notes and other medical records on the system Data inputting and collection from patient notes Completing database Running reports Liaising with other hospitals and NMTR teams Supporting the Major Trauma Service and the NMTR Team with administration duties Taking notes Working for our organisation North Bristol NHS Trust employs over 12,000 staff providing healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset from our award‑winning hospital building at Southmead. Person Specification Education / Training / Qualifications Good basic education including GCSE English at C grade or above or equivalent Good standard of secondary education with literacy and numeracy skills Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access packages, use of electronic diary Work Experience Previous data entry and retrieving experience Previous NHS experience in an acute setting Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team Experience of supporting projects Knowledge / Skills / Abilities The ability to process and check large sets of data and retrieve missing information Ability to identify and resolve any discrepancies in the data of other parties An ability to work flexibly and organise workloads in order to meet varying demands of the role at home or in the office Ability to present complex data in meetings when required Problem solving to ensure efficient working, including dealing sensitively with confidential information Use of initiative and judgement in difficult or complex situations Good planning, organisational, communication and problem solving skills in an administrative setting with all levels of staff and contacts Excellent communication skills with colleagues and patients with ability to elevate concerns, keeping professional boundaries Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology When you apply for this vacancy if you have not received a communication from North Bristol NHS Trust within three weeks of the closing date, please assume that on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful.
