Luton Council is seeking a dedicated Neurodiversity Advisory Teacher (Secondary) to join our Inclusion Service, working at the heart of our SEND and Alternative Provision (AP) Change Programme and Early Awareness Neurodevelopmental Pathway. This is a pivotal role within our SENS Team, working closely with the Neurodiversity/Early Intervention Team and Inclusion Service. You will: Work directly with secondary schools (Key Stages 3 & 4) to strengthen their capacity to support neurodiverse pupils. Enhance and complement the high‑quality training and outreach already offered by the Autism Advisory Service, SENS Advisory Service, and Neurodiversity/Early Intervention Team. Provide tailored advice, programmes, and strategies to schools to help deliver positive outcomes for neurodiverse pupils. Deliver engaging training and coaching to educators to raise awareness, improve practice, and embed whole‑school approaches to neurodiversity. Support the development of inclusive school environments, identifying areas for improvement and working collaboratively with teachers, leaders, parents, and other professionals. Please note this role does not attract sponsorship. About you We are looking for an experienced and inspirational teacher who can champion neurodiversity and inclusion in secondary education. You will bring: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and substantial teaching experience, principally at Key Stages 3 and 4. A strong track record of supporting neurodiverse students (e.g., autism, ADHD, social communication differences) in mainstream or specialist settings. Experience of designing and delivering training, workshops, or coaching for educators. The ability to assess individual needs, design programmes to support development, and monitor progress. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage persuasively and sensitively with teachers, families, and multi‑agency partners. Strong organisational and time‑management skills to meet deadlines and priorities. Up‑to‑date knowledge of SEND policy, neurodiversity approaches, and developments in education. A commitment to ongoing professional development, with evidence of CPD in SEN and neurodiversity. A relevant degree (or equivalent experience), and a willingness to undertake further training.
