This post is based offshore on the Irish Sea Pioneer on a 2/2/2/2/2/3 rotation.

JOB TITLE: CRANE OPERATOR AND AB

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operating cranes and other deck duties.
  • Undertaking daily and weekly maintenance routines of the cranes as directed and as required by the planned maintenance system.
  • Completing BMS-AF-I-1668 ISP – Daily Checks Sheets for Manitex Cranes.
  • Complying with permit to work and risk assessment procedures.
  • Undertaking any training as required by the company, assisting in the training of deck and helicopter fire teams.
  • Ensuring adequate safe systems of work are adopted for all activities and that procedures are adhered to.
  • Cargo handling to and from supply vessels and client installations.
  • General fabric maintenance on the vessel.
  • Assisting in engine room as required.
  • Maintenance of emergency equipment, lifesaving appliances and firefighting equipment.
  • Participating in all emergency training and drills.
  • Watch-keeping as required by the Master during transiting.
  • Mooring/un-mooring operations.
  • On activation of the ISP GPA, reports to muster point No. 1 as Emergency Response Team Leader.
  • If instructed to do so, act as coxswain for evacuation by lifeboat.
  • If instructed to do so, direct personnel to heli-admin for evacuation by helicopter.
  • Complete and maintain CPP or any other competence system as requested.
  • Prepare work orders and work permits, requiring isolation as appropriate to progress maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults to maximise equipment availability and report all defects to management.
  • Carry out effective troubleshooting to maximize installation efficiency, identify spares required, and initiate ordering of same.
  • Monitors and controls work by vendors/contractors within own remit.
  • Fundamental to Installation recovery from level zero.
  • Input accurate data into SAP for recording of working time (Time writing) and historical data.
  • Operate as part of the multi-tasking Operations Team, assisting with helicopter, supply boat process and tanker operations as required.
  • Provide electrical input and feedback into the installation work planning process.
  • Take personal responsibility for safety and adhere to Petrofac's 'Eight Golden Rules'.
  • 'Live' our Petrofac Values and apply them in day-to-day work.
  • Take care of your personal health and safety and, by your actions, help to ensure the safety of others.
  • Comply with company policies, Code of Business Conduct etc., local policies, standards and legislation.
  • Bring to the attention of Supervisors any hazards or potential hazards in all spheres of activity.
  • Report promptly all accidents, incidents and near misses to the Supervisor.
  • Ensure knowledge and understanding of HS&E responsibilities and actively participate in health and safety activities on board the OSI.
  • Ensure your personal certificates as per Company skills matrix are valid and safety critical competency is maintained and also compile and maintain personal profile to demonstrate competency in line with Company procedure.
  • In the event of an emergency, carry out such duties as identified in the emergency response procedure or station bill and participate in emergency response team training.
  • Train other personnel as directed; take on multi-tasking duties as and when competency proved in skills defined by Client and act flexibly to cover temporary projects and other roles as required.
  • Actively suggest improvements to installation processes.
  • Provide a detailed handover log to provide sufficient information to the oncoming shift team to continue safe and efficient operation.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Competency as Seaman Grade 1.
  • Crane Operator Level 3.
  • HERTM.
  • Banksman Slinger Stage 3.
  • Rigger Stage 1.
  • Offshore Fire / Emergency Helideck Team Member.
  • Offshore Fire / Emergency Response Team Member.
  • Offshore Lifeboat Coxwain course desirable.
  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction Training course.
  • OGUK and ENG.1 medicals.
  • Team worker and team builder.
  • Technical awareness.
  • Accept responsibility.

  • Written and oral communication.
  • Safety conscious.
