We are seeking a Highly Specialised Respiratory Physiologist to join our team on a 12 month fixed term basis.
Responsibilities:
- As an autonomous practitioner, undertake and report on a range of routine and advanced lung function tests and procedures within the Respiratory Physiology Department, in accordance with ARTP criteria.
- Calibration, monitoring, safety and quality control of all equipment within the Lung Function Unit.
- Provide highly specialist advice, teaching and training to both physiologists and other health care professionals within the multi-disciplinary team.
- Review, develop and facilitate the implementation of standard operating procedures and guidelines within the department in accordance with current research, and national/local guidelines.
- Financial planning, capacity and demand reviews and understanding of budget management.
- Keep abreast of current advances and best practice in Respiratory Physiology to provide an excellent quality patient care service.
- Plan and undertake a range of simple and complex respiratory diagnostic tests in accordance with ARTP criteria/local and agreed standards.
- Responsible for the safety of patients at all times in the lung function unit through risk management and compliance with equipment safety, maintenance and infection control policies.
- Responsible for data entry, text processing and storage of data using a computer-based data entry system.
- Provide an interpretation of data collected on a written report within a standardised format.
- Ensure data and reports from clinical investigations are communicated in a timely manner to referring physicians.
- Support the development of new procedures and investigations and develop staff accordingly.
- Maintain a current ILS certification.
