Job Summary We are seeking enthusiastic people to join our friendly and supportive team of paediatric audiologists in East London. The positions are based at West Ham Lane Health Centre in Stratford. The department works closely with other paediatric audiology departments within Barts Health NHS Trust, providing comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation services for children at both secondary and tertiary levels, in partnership with a Consultant audio‑vestibular physician. We are working towards IQIPS accreditation. Key Responsibilities Perform specialist diagnostic procedures and provide a comprehensive hearing‑aid service to children, including determining care plans for individual patients and involving carers and families as appropriate. Assist with day‑to‑day management of the Paediatric Audiology service. Contribute to clinical audit, research and governance, designing and completing audits, participating in data collection for larger projects, and developing evidence‑based protocols. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team within professional boundaries, accountable to the Clinical Lead and seeking guidance from peers or senior staff as needed. Carry out all audiological procedures according to national, professional and local protocols, justifying and documenting any contra‑indications or necessary deviations. Maintain empathy and rapport with patients during testing to maximise test quality and minimise anxiety. Essential Qualifications BSc in Audiology or Clinical Physiology (Audiology) or equivalent (BTEC qualification in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement with successful completion of both parts of BAAT I & II is acceptable). Registered to practice with the Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS) as a Clinical Physiologist (Audiology) or with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Knowledge of paediatric audiology and advanced audiological test techniques. Awareness of national audiology and NHS developments. Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD). Desirable Qualifications MSc in Audiological Science plus CAC/CCC or successful completion of the STP in Audiology. Eligibility/registration as a clinical scientist with the HCPC or on the voluntary AHCS register. Advanced courses in audiology. British Sign Language qualifications. Deaf Awareness qualifications. Membership with the BAA and/or BSA. Diploma/post‑graduate certificate in management. Essential Experience NHS experience within paediatric audiology, including behavioural assessment and rehabilitation. Desirable Experience Responsibility for area(s) of speciality within audiology and/or general administration. Demonstrable operational managerial responsibility. Experience at a senior level demonstrating clinical competency within a relevant clinical area. Evidence and experience of leading change and sustained improvements. Working towards postgraduate qualifications. Essential Knowledge Theoretical and practical knowledge of paediatric audiology and advanced audiological test techniques. Awareness of safeguarding procedures in place to maintain the wellbeing and protection of vulnerable children. Thorough understanding of clinical governance principles. Desirable Knowledge Awareness of national audiology and NHS developments.
