Job summaryWe are recruiting a Trainee High‑Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT HIT) as part of the London wide Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (IAPT) at Bexley NHS Talking Therapies. The role is fully funded, £37,350 per year, permanent contract, full‑time, on a one‑year training pathway that involves two days a week at Royal Holloway, London, and three days a week in‑service.Main dutiesThe trainee will complete the PG Diploma in High Intensity CBT at Royal Holloway, London. Training takes place over one academic year and includes three days of service work and two days of university teaching each week. You will provide high‑intensity interventions to adults presenting with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and work as part of a multidisciplinary team of CBT therapists, counsellors, psychological wellbeing practitioners, primary care mental health practitioners and employment advisors.Job responsibilitiesProvide supervised 1:1 CBT sessions to adults experiencing mental health problemsParticipate in group workshops and psychoeducational interventionsWork closely with supervisors, attending regular clinical skills sessions and academic teachingDevelop clinical competencies in line with BABCP standardsPerson specification – essential qualificationsA core mental health practitioner qualification or KSA routeUndergraduate degree (or equivalent overseas qualification)Post‑qualification experience of working with people with serious mental health problemsPerson specification – essential experienceSignificant experience of working in mental health servicesAbility to manage own caseload and timePerson specification – desirableExperience in a service where agreed targets are in place, demonstrating clinical outcomesKnowledge of IAPT/Talking Therapies programmes and the stepped‑care modelUnderstanding of clinical governanceExperience of carrying out risk assessments within scope of practiceKnowledge of medication used in anxiety, depression and other mental health problemsDisclosure and Barring Service CheckApplicants will undergo a DBS check.
