About the role Are you fascinated by the amazing science of pain and motivated to help clients make sense of their own persistent pain? Do you enjoy supporting individuals to build upon their skills to successfully self-manage their pain and to achieve their personal goals? Would you like to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills within the field of Pain Management? Team and Services You will be supported by and work closely with an interdisciplinary team of dedicated and expert pain specialists including physiotherapists, psychologists, pharmacist, occupational therapists, pain consultants, osteopath, therapy assistant and nurses. The pain team integrates with our Rheumatology, MSK and ME/CFS services and you will benefit from shared learning opportunities. Responsibilities Deliver a full range of specialist Pain Management Physiotherapy approaches and assess and manage a mixed caseload of patients with pain management both on a 1:1 basis and in groups. Work autonomously in a ward or community setting and provide physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme. Hold responsibility for own complex caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Ensure personal development and participate in the development of others. Supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the degree standard. Undertake evidence-based audit and contribute to research projects, making recommendations to clinical lead/manager for service improvement. Qualifications and Experience Provide a high standard of specialist physiotherapy input to the designated therapy team. Have current experience of working with individuals living with pain. We would also consider applications from Band 5 clinicians with sound MSK assessment and reasoning skills who would want to develop in the area of pain management, as part of a development role.
