Job Title: Nurse Specialist – Women’s Services – Complex Termination of Pregnancy and Specialist Placement Team Employer: Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (placing through Alfianni Online – Artist Netwerk) Job Summary Full‑time secondment for a Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Complex Termination of Pregnancy (TOP) and Specialist Placement Team, working as part of the Women’s Services Gynaecology group. The role involves nursing‑led clinics, support to consultant‑led clinics, caseload management, database oversight, patient education, and attendance at multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. The post holder must possess extensive gynaecology knowledge, with prior experience in TOP considered advantageous. Autonomy and strong collaborative teamwork are essential, alongside excellent communication, counselling, and IT proficiency. Key Responsibilities Carry out a range of assessments and consultations for patients within the Specialist Placement and Complex TOP pathway. Attend MDT meetings and implement agreed actions. Provide specialist advice to patients via telephone and face‑to‑face, including emotionally sensitive situations. Offer guidance to other clinic specialties and teams. Support patients emotionally and physically to achieve optimal outcomes using advanced communication and clinical skills. Deliver patient education and support. Manage the patient database accurately for accreditation and audit purposes. Maintain excellent record‑keeping standards. Provide leadership and management as a Band 6 within the service. Qualifications & Education (Essential) Registered nurse (appropriate branch). Current NMC registration. Diploma plus specialist qualifications/experience within the area; willingness to undertake further degree‑level study. Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council standards for student supervision and assessment where relevant. Current driving licence if relevant. Desirable Qualifications Degree in a health‑related subject. Research or audit experience. Contribution to education and training programmes. Knowledge & Experience (Essential) Post‑registration experience in a related specialist area. Extended clinical practice supported by training, supervision, and assessment. Understanding of relevant NHS policy and specific project contexts. Knowledge of adult/child safeguarding. Ongoing professional development. Essential Skills & Abilities Good IT skills. Effective report‑writing abilities. Capacity to work independently and as part of a team. Effective organisation and time‑management. Desirable Skills Change‑management skills and project involvement. Additional Details Secondment; Band 6. Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum.
