Plastipack is an independent specialist manufacturer headquartered in the UK, producing swimming pool and water storage cover materials. We provide energy and resource saving products sold in roll form to fabricators for both commercial and domestic applications worldwide.

About the role:

This is a full-time on-site role for a Maintenance Engineer. The Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks including equipment breakdown repairs and performing planned maintenance both mechanical and electrical. The ideal candidate will have an electrical bias with good electrical controls skills. Plastic extrusion or industrial manufacturing experience would be an advantage. The role would initially be a day shift, but flexibility is needed for working an afternoon/evening shift if required.

Please note: We are not sponsoring overseas candidates. Applicants must live within 1 hour's commute from the factory.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Evaluating machinery and making recommendations for improvements
  2. Coordinating maintenance and repair services to keep production equipment operational
  3. Assisting with spare part stock control
  4. Inspecting machinery and reporting any faults to management and SHEQ manager
  5. Identifying faults and troubleshooting wherever possible
  6. Implementing and improving preventative maintenance methods and procedures
  7. Conducting frequent quality checks on equipment to ensure no maintenance is required
  8. Keeping a record of preventive and emergency maintenance carried out
  9. Carrying out PPM tasks to all machinery
  10. Maintenance and testing of electrical equipment to include PAT testing, fire alarms & emergency light testing
  11. Creating Safe Operating procedures
  12. Overhauling and replacing parts according to schedule
  13. Helping to improve and implement electrical H&S to include LOTO
  14. Ensuring the organisation complies with safety regulations while maintenance takes place
  15. Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns
  16. Fixing faults or arranging for replacements to be installed
  17. Keeping the production manager and engineering manager informed of progress
  18. Any other reasonable request
About you:
  1. Electrical qualification - NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  2. IEE 18th edition wiring regulations certification would be beneficial
  3. Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and requirements
  4. Working as part of a team
  5. Being a highly motivated worker
  6. Strong communication skills both written and verbally
  7. Flexibility in working hours to assist with projects and breakdowns
  8. Knowledge of industrial machinery to include PLC, 3 phase systems, control systems, motors and drives would be beneficial
  9. Good fault-finding skills
  10. Knowledge of installation of electrical circuits and equipment and current guidance
  11. Basic IT literacy to include Microsoft Excel & Word
  12. A degree of multiskilling to assist with mechanical work (30% bias towards Mechanical skills)
