Our 7,000sqm site in Wellingborough is home to the group’s medium to high volume head and block machining capability, and boasts an impressive state-of-the-art assembly and test facility producing high-performance engines for a prestigious UK car manufacturer.Purpose of JobThe purpose of the role is to ensure that customer satisfaction is maintained through product conformance to agreed engineering standards and processes. The responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer is to engineer and administer the processes and equipment required for manufacturing activities. Engineers will work within a cross-functional team responsible for the total life cycle of manufacturing projects. Supporting New Product Introduction and driving continuous improvement activities with the production cells are also part of the role.DutiesDevelopment of engine build & test processesResolution of production process issuesDiagnose downtime concerns and developing solutions to address themUnderstand & develop Aria & operator guided systemsAssessment of engine running data and identifying faults/issues. You will approve or reject engines readiness for shipping.Create rework proposals based on information from the data output from test including containment actions and concessions.Development of engine test processes.Understand and eliminate sources of wasteManage and prioritise workload for assigned engineersInterface with customers as requiredDevelop specification documents for new equipment, tools or servicesDevelopment of less experienced engineers in both technical and non-technical skills to become outstanding Build EngineersOversee, in conjunction with the relevant project managers, the execution of programs for schedule and budget while achieving technical objectives.Provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional areas of engine build operationsEnsure a responsible approach to health, safety and environmental risks in relation to own and team function and to control the risks or report them to management as appropriateAdhere to company policies, procedures and working practices at all times.To evaluate existing manufacturing systems with a view to optimisation, cost reduction and general continuous improvement using lean principles. Then where appropriate within a cross-functional team, implement the relevant changesTo create, maintain and develop Process Documentation i.e. Process Sheets, FMEA, Process Flow and APQPTo liaise with the Quality and Production teams to ensure best practices are implemented.Support supplier and internal assessments against the requirements of industry standards as required, providing information and explanation as appropriate.Carry out internal process audits in to ensure that process instructions are being followed and are correct. Take and drive any remedial actions as necessary.To develop repair and rework schemes for products including containment actions and concessions.To lead, co-ordinated or participate in problem solving activities using approved tools and techniques.To work in a IATF16949 environment, upholding the ethics of the company’s quality standards.To travel both in the UK & abroad for supplier/customer visits as required.Ensure a responsible approach to health, safety and environmental risks in relation to own and team function and to control the risks or report them to management as appropriateTo perform any other duties reasonably required to achieve departmental and/or Company objectives as deemed appropriate by the Manager / Director responsible.Experience5+ years’ experience in the automotive or related industry post apprenticeship (Desired)Innovative and team oriented, strong problem-solving skillsDemonstrate ability to effectively collaborate with co-workers and customerPrior experience in leading and providing technical leadershipMust possess the ability to resolve management and technical problemsStrong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are requiredQualificationsA HND or Degree in Mechanical, Production or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent is preferredIndustry recognised apprenticeshipSixSigma Green BeltRequired SkillsIT literacy, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPointInterpretation of geometric tolerancing (GD&T) and 2D drawingsGood communication skillsProblem Solving using recognised tools and techniquesUnderstanding and experience of APQP, FMEA’s, PPAP, SPCHours: Alternating Shifts - Monday to Friday 5.45 am to 14.15 pm and 13.45 pm to 22.15 pmCompany quarterly performance bonus schemeEmployee Assistance Programme - Help@handOn-site parkingFree tea and coffeeCompany pensionDeath in Service cover #J-18808-Ljbffr
