Actuarial Consultant - GMP Equalisation and Project Work (Nationwide) Mercer Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom Overview Join Mercer as an Actuarial Consultant focused on GMP rectification and equalisation, with opportunities for part-qualified or qualified actuaries. Provide technical expertise and support to the UK Retirement market, and engage in actuarial project work across pension initiatives. We will count on you to: Collaborate and lead within a multi-disciplinary team on complex defined benefit modelling, specialising in UK pension solutions Quality Assurance: check and review complex calculations, ensuring accuracy and clear communication of results to consultants and wider support teams Drive Improvement: contribute to continuous improvement by developing and delivering knowledge-sharing initiatives, training sessions, and coordinating new process rollouts across locations Build Relationships: partner with internal teams to deliver seamless service across Mercer lines of business Support and Develop: support junior colleagues through performance reviews, training, and development plans Client Engagement: engage directly with clients on actuarial projects to enhance professional experience Project Involvement: participate in actuarial projects including pension valuations, risk assessments, and benefit design initiatives Team Leadership: lead in team meetings to discuss progress and address challenges in GMP rectification, equalisation, and other actuarial projects What you need to have Qualified or part-qualified actuary Extensive experience in actuarial technical calculations Strong understanding of UK Defined Benefit pension schemes and benefit calculations Excellent analytical, numerical, and critical thinking skills with a solid grasp of pension actuarial approaches People management skills What makes you stand out Previous experience in a similar actuarial role within Pensions, with exposure to consultants and client support teams Why join our team Professional development opportunities, interesting work, and supportive leadership Inclusive culture with collaboration on innovative solutions for colleagues and clients Career opportunities, benefits, and rewards to enhance well-being Mercer, a business of Marsh McLennan (NYSE: MMC), is a global leader in helping clients realize their objectives across 130 countries.
