Main duties of the job An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and innovative band 8b Lead ACP to join the forward-thinking Emergency Department team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The role will be enhanced through a model supporting 50% direct clinical care balanced with 50% clinical leadership and management responsibilities. Job responsibilities What you'll do As Lead ACP for the Emergency Department, you will work closely with other departmental ACPs/tACPs, Senior Nurses, Consultant Leads, Directors of Major Trauma, Matrons, the Care Group Manager and the Divisional Director of Nursing/Professions. You will lead on all aspects of advanced clinical practice and be focused on patient safety, experience and quality assurance frameworks. You must be able to demonstrate a compassionate approach to the care of patients and the public. The Emergency Department Lead ACP will provide managerial and professional support on a day-to-day basis to all ACP/tACPs across emergency care, ensuring all 4 pillars of advanced practice is delivered. You will need to possess the ability to work as a key decision maker alongside the multi professional team, ensuring the safe implementation of an advanced practice strategy within the department and care group in accordance with research, policy, national standards and the NMC Code. The department has a reputation for pioneering new roles; several members of the senior nursing/AHP leadership team are national leaders in the field for advanced practice role developments. This results in the delivery of expert care, education, and support to patients with complex needs within the most acute phase of their care. If you are a confident, well organised, strong, visible leader with high standards, excellent clinical skills and knowledge with extensive experience of working within emergency care, who thrives in a busy and diverse clinical environment then we would like to hear from you. The successful applicant will have proven experience as a credentialled emergency care ACP. Track record in leadership within emergency care is essential as are excellent interpersonal communication and organisational skills. Qualifications, knowledge and experience MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice - full master (180 credits) or equivalency pathway – the portfolio route – recognition by HEE centre of Advanced practice, via the supported portfolio route. Including NMP where professional registration permits. Credentialed Royal College of Emergency Medicine Advanced Clinical Practitioner Registered Healthcare Professional on relevant part of NMC / HCPC register Evidence of advanced leadership qualities Experience of educating and developing staff Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation Evidenced based care philosophy Ability to prioritise work and adapt to changing deadlines Confident of own knowledge base Ability to synthesise complex information quickly and able to communicate Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed ALS/EPALS/ETC provider Provide evidence of Leading learning in practice Evidence of developing and implementing policy, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion Development / use of integrated patient care pathways Experience of practitioner-led care / clinics in own practice Multidisciplinary team working Research awareness/experience Trust Values Working Together Always Improving Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
