Job SummaryThe Estates Department operate and maintain energy and environmental resources, controls, electrical and mechanical services providing power, lighting, heating, air conditioning to wards, outpatients and operating theatres. Estates directly impacts on patient welfare, frontline clinical care, infection prevention and control and energy efficiency and sustainability across the Estates Trust.We have an exciting opportunity for a committed, highly self-motivated individual. The Royal Marsden is looking for an Estates Officer to join the Estates Team in Chelsea. This is a highly valuable broad ranging role, which will expose them to the whole range of Estates services including mechanical, electrical, building & energy control systems and project management. The candidate must be highly proactive in developing their technical knowledge in all aspects of training and work undertaken, engage in active discussions about skills, techniques, methods and approach to tasks in order to develop as a skilled professional. Behaviour at all times must be conducted in a professional manner and consistent with Trust Values.ResponsibilitiesTo understand the operation and maintain the Building and Engineering Services and systems a high standard and utilised in a safe and efficient manner.To develop rapport and empathy with other staff groups, patients and visitors where this is necessary to support job completion.There is a need for good communication skills which will assist the department to gain the cooperation of others and maintain good relations, for instance to encourage the workforce to take up new equipment familiarisation, learning physical skills on the job or new work practises.Supervise and undertake breakdowns of service equipment, and see that testing, maintenance, fault diagnoses are carried out appropriately, timely and that repairs to all Building or engineering services plant and equipment are safe.Education and QualificationsEssential:A good standard of educationSpecialist knowledge acquired through relevant HNC/HND/Degree course or equivalent working experience and responsibilitiesRelevant C&G trade apprenticeship or equivalent on the job experiencePost apprentice experience.One or more Hospital Engineering related qualification, i.e., Ventilation/water/lift maintenance/ medical gases/ sterilizersDesirable:Service trainingAdditional Hospital Engineering related qualificationRecognised supervisory management qualificationRecognised Health & Safety QualificationExperienceEssential:Experience within a maintenance environment.Proficient in the use of hand tools and machineryHighly aware of Health & Safety issuesExperienced in working in a demand driven serviceExperienced in working to deadlinesExperienced in issuing permits to workDesirable:Supervision of multi- disciplinary team in healthcare premisesExperience of working in a large organisationDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
