Clinical Research Fellow (ST4 eqv.) in Critical Care Medicine Clinical Research Fellow in Critical Care Medicine at Barts Health NHS Trust (St Bartholomew's Hospital). The fellowship provides training and experience in research methodology, advanced echocardiography, renal ultrasound, and advanced haemodynamic monitoring. The role focuses on advancing research initiatives with no scheduled clinical responsibilities but clinical training opportunities may be offered based on interests. Responsibilities Screen, consent, and recruit patients for ongoing research studies. Perform echocardiograms and renal ultrasound scans on recruited patients. Maintain paperwork required by regulatory authorities. Analyse data and present results at local, national, and international meetings. Take the lead on resultant manuscripts. Contribute to wider departmental research activities and participate in educational activities related to echocardiography and ultrasound. Qualifications GMC Registration or eligibility. Post‑graduate training in ICM, anaesthesia or cardiology (ST4 level). Post‑graduate qualification relevant to the post. Training in echocardiography. Research experience. Essential Criteria Understanding and knowledge of research and ability to interpret research papers. Good Clinical Practice training. Experience in teaching. Understand the principals of governance and risk management. Ability to work within a multi‑disciplinary team. Evidence of participation in appraisal process. Up to date with statutory and mandatory training in current appointment. Evidence of and adherence to the GMC's ‘good Medical Practice’. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written). Desirable Criteria Experience in cardiothoracic critical care. Higher degree (e.g., MSc, MD, PhD). ALS or equivalent. Publications in critical care journals or in areas of special interest. Experience in delivering training courses to junior medical and nursing staff. Experience in audit or quality improvement.
