Northern, Liverpool, England, United Kingdom Multi‑Skilled Engineer/Technician Job Details Business function: Engineering Grade: Skilled Train Maintainer Salary: £52,031 per annum (75% salary during training period) Role type: On site Hours: 35 per week Responsibilities Collaborate with a dedicated Engineering Team to maintain and service traction and rolling stock to the highest standards. Communicate with colleagues to share updates and coordinate maintenance efforts, keeping everyone in sync and informed. Conduct maintenance, servicing, and repairs with expertise, ensuring trains are safe and ready for service every day. Use diagnostic software to fault‑find, problem‑solve, and carry out root‑cause analysis to prevent future issues, focusing on electric units. Relay essential information to apprentices and colleagues to foster a culture of teamwork and safety. Adhere to safety regulations and conduct assessments, ensuring a clean and secure working environment. Qualifications & Requirements Technically skilled: NVQ level 3 or equivalent with an Electrical Engineering bias. Sharp focus: Ability to troubleshoot in a fast‑paced, technical environment. Flexible: Ability to adapt to varying demands of train maintenance and operational needs. Proactive: Initiative, motivation, and drive to lead by example and uphold the highest safety standards. Motivated: Drive to be the engine behind operations, carrying out maintenance and repairs that keep trains moving forward. Experienced: Ability to use diagnostic software to identify and resolve issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, mentor apprentices, and contribute to improving rail travel for all. Live within a 4‑minute car journey from Allerton Train Care Centre (postcode L15 4LD). Be at least 18 years of age. Pass the safety‑critical medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening.
