About the role We are looking to appoint an appropriately qualified and experienced children’s nurse to join our well‑established Child Health Nursing team in the Clinical Simulation Facilities to support the clinical development of Child Health Nursing at the University. The role entails small group teaching in the clinical skills facility across all year groups in the pre‑registration nursing curriculum, with an opportunity to be involved in the delivery of clinical skills for post‑graduate students. Based in the Faculty of Health, the School of Nursing and Midwifery programmes in adult, child and mental health nursing and midwifery are designed with students’ careers and the future needs of the workforce in mind. The School works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be. Key responsibilities Deliver small‑group teaching of clinical skills to registration and post‑registration nursing students. Mentor and coach learners in the clinical simulation setting. Familiarise and further develop simulation‑based learning in line with NMC SSSA requirements. Occasionally travel to the Exeter campus to support teaching activities. Qualifications and experience Current registration as a Children’s Nurse with the NMC. Relevant post‑registration nursing experience. A degree in health or a related subject. Relevant postgraduate qualifications and a teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one). Proven teaching, mentoring and coaching skills in a clinical or simulation context. Knowledge of clinical simulation technology and a willingness to develop innovative simulation‑based learning. Employment details This is a part‑time term‑time position working 25.9 hours per week for 40 weeks per year. The role requires on‑site presence 3 days a week; flexibility to work from home will be accommodated where possible. A Standard Disclosure and Barring Service Check will be required.
