Principal Instrumentation and Control Engineer

OverviewWood is currently recruiting for a Principal Instrumentation and Control Engineer (contract). The role will be working on a Middle Eastern gas FEED project in our Reading office on a hybrid basis. The contract duration is around 12 months.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the execution of project work, in accordance with the Discipline Design Instructions, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the man-hour, cost budgets and the project schedule targetsDevelop specification and prepare material requisitions for control systems, instruments, control valves and all other instrumentsIssue material requisitions to the Material Management Department for enquiry, order placement and for any subsequent revisionsPrepare the Master Requisition Index and update and issue it on a regular basisReview Vendors' quotations, prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, in conjunction with Materials Management Department commercial quotation evaluation. Technically approve Order Variation SummariesHold co-ordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors of major equipment as requiredAssess progress and procedure associated reports and input to the DMS. Derive and suggest plans to recover slippage, correct inefficiency and to take any resulting agreed actionsAdvise the Chief / Principal Instrument Engineer of any major slippages and their causes, all policy matters, major technical problems and unresolved differences with other Groups, and requests for changes by the Client which may constitute a contract changeAssist in the preparation of Auxiliary Flow Diagrams as necessaryPrepare, check, approve and provide technical input into project deliverables to the required quality standards in conformance with or better than, the approved budget and programmeProvide relevant knowledgeable practical skills in the response and actions for:Site visits and site surveysSite queries and discussionsSupplier, vendor, contractor, client and site related discussionsPrepare and support discipline contributions to Proposals including:Interpretation of the discipline technical content of the Enquiry and understanding the relationship with other disciplinesAdvise Proposal Manager of any omissions, anomalies, inconsistencies or interpretations and develop these to a conclusionDefinition of activities and deliverablesPrepare discipline man-hour estimatesLiaise with the Estimating Group on the preparation of equipment cost estimates and installation work contentContribution to Proposal’s discipline write upQualificationsBSc Electrical / Process / Process Control EngineeringSignificant HAZOP & SIL experienceExtensive experience in instrument and control engineering in the oil, gas or petrochemical industryTo be technically astute and conversant with the latest advances in technologyAbility to deliver documentation that is technically correct to the required standard and scheduleUnderstand and control Material Take OffExperience in a similar role within the contractor environment is essentialPrior experience reviewing Engineering Flow Diagrams and Piping Layouts and Models with reference to assigned equipmentDesirableMiddle East project experience is preferable (Gas Plants, Refineries etc)Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering and Information TechnologyIndustriesProfessional Services #J-18808-Ljbffr
