Senior Technician

Overview A Senior Technician is required to undertake research as part of a BBSRC-funded grant: "Defining a new realm of proteolysis activated protein function". The successful applicant will use genetical, biochemical and physiological approaches in combination with Mass Spectrometry to understand the biochemistry of the N-degron pathways in plants and physiological roles. The post holder will work alongside a Research Associate/Fellow as part of the project. This exciting project is a collaboration between biologists and chemists, it builds directly on our previous work identifying and characterising the molecular mechanisms of N-degron pathways in plants (eg. Till et al Plant Direct 2019, Vicente et al New Phytologist 2019, Abbas et al Nature 2022). Responsibilities Undertake research as part of the grant "Defining a new realm of proteolysis activated protein function". Use genetical, biochemical and physiological approaches in combination with Mass Spectrometry to understand the biochemistry of N-degron pathways in plants. Collaborate with a Research Associate/Fellow and work within a multidisciplinary team of biologists and chemists. Qualifications Minimum of HNC in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualifications with considerable work experience, or substantial work experience in a relevant role. Laboratory skills in plant genetics, physiology and general biochemistry, including Western blot analysis.
