Through Business Banking (BB) our global network offers comprehensive support and services to businesses in the SME market. From expanding overseas to managing the cash and trade flows of an established enterprise, the Business Banking team of Relationship Managers and Product Specialists provides a range of end-to-end solutions designed to help small businesses reach their potential.

We are seeking a customer-focused and commercially minded person to join this team in the role of Relationship Manager.

You will provide dedicated customer service to a portfolio of clients with accountability for sales, service, risk and operational delivery. This role will have both external and internal stakeholders. Internal stakeholders may include Sales, Product Development, Risk & Compliance teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Face to face meetings with SME clients, with up to 70 clients in your portfolio.
  2. Managing portfolio income of approximately £1.5 – £2m and SME clients with a £2-15m turnover.
  3. Driving revenue growth through understanding customer needs and by adopting a needs-based approach which engages clients and increases new business.
  4. Growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broadening client relationships by leveraging HSBC's extensive network.
  5. Building a strong understanding of the client's business and industry to promote insights, enrich client conversations and deliver fair outcomes.
  6. Comprehensive understanding of the client through pro-active credit risk assessments and customer due diligence reviews.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  1. Experience of working in relevant environments, i.e. Business/Corporate Banking or Financial Services.
  2. Commercial Banking experience would be advantageous.
  3. Proven ability in identifying and meeting customer needs is essential.
  4. Commercial credit and lending experience would be advantageous.
  5. A passion for delivering excellent customer service and proactively looking for innovative ways to improve this service.
  6. Experience of building effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same.
  7. Comprehensive understanding of risk management and proven experience of ensuring own/others' compliance with relevant regulatory processes.

This is a hybrid role with a base location of York and covering the Grimsby, Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire regions.
