The Waymo Safety team works to promote and help continuously improve the safety of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our experts develop safety goals and strategies, and conduct safety engineering analyses to ensure safety is being considered throughout the design and development of our vehicles. The team develops and promotes safety strategies and policies for autonomous vehicles for its work with regulatory authorities, lawmakers, law enforcement and public and non-profit organizations. In this role you will be hybrid based in London and report into our Head of Resilience and Incident Management. You Will Be accountable for all aspects of Emergency Services relationships in the UK and Europe. Establish and maintain primary contact with Emergency Services at management and executive levels in current and future areas of operation. Design, present, and certify additional Emergency Services Ambassadors (ESAs) and Emergency Services stakeholders on Waymo's mission, technology, and industry concerns. Provide oversight, review, and guidance to Emergency Services training teams and act as the final source of truth for Emergency Services questions. Represent Waymo at Emergency Services events, panels, and industry events. Develop internal guidance and policy on emergency management and Emergency Services expectations. You Have 15+ years of service in UK emergency services (Police, Fire & Rescue, or Ambulance Service) Deep understanding of UK legal frameworks, emergency protocols, and community engagement strategies Proven experience in emergency response and building relationships with Emergency Services organizations such as the London Metropolitan Police Service, London Fire Brigade, and London Ambulance Service. Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences. A strong understanding of the specific nuances and sensitivities of Emergency Services communities in the UK. Experience in training design, delivery, and program auditing. The ability to establish and maintain a professional presence at executive and command staff levels. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with legal and other internal teams. We Prefer At least 7 years in a leadership or management position within one of the UK's principal emergency services Experience establishing organizational presence in new geographic locations. Familiarity with autonomous vehicle technology and its implications for emergency services. A track record of policy development related to emergency management. Experience in a role requiring significant public speaking and stakeholder engagement. The ability to identify training gaps and augment sessions as needed. Experience working in rapidly scaling and complex operational environments. The expected base salary range for this full-time position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
