Base pay range Contract: Zero Hours Salary: £13.69 p/hour Location: Beulah Street, Harrogate Closing date: Sunday 30th November 2025 About the role In 2024, we opened a new shop in the centre of Harrogate to continue our mission of supporting animals in need and promoting sustainability by selling second‑hand items. As a charity, we receive unique donations from supporters and the funds raised support Blue Cross’s mission to aid sick, injured and homeless pets. Over 40,000 animals each year benefit from our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes. As a Standby Shop Assistant, you will step in to provide essential support to our in‑store teams, ensuring we have enough cover to keep the shop running smoothly. You will assist with customer service, stock management and general shop duties. The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00. Your hours will vary based on the shop’s needs. We are committed to paying the National Living Wage (£12.21 per hour). For this role the total hourly rate is £13.69, which includes holiday pay. About You You’ll bring previous retail experience, including some time spent supervising or managing, and you’ll be confident working with all sorts of customers. Flexibility is important, as shifts vary, so you’ll be happy to jump in when needed. You’ll also be organised, practical and ready to get stuck into whatever the day brings.
