Junior Sister/Charge Nurse - Critical Care The closing date is 02 December 2025 Our Critical Care Team are looking for a dedicated Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our unit. You will be fully supported within your role and will be given ample opportunities to develop skills, including leadership and supporting all staff development. You will also be given the opportunity to gain an insight into the PDN, Senior Nurse and the Lead Nurse role. We would expect that you embrace the teaching aspect of the Band 6 role and lead others in their link nurse roles. The Critical Care Unit has 13 beds plus a further 3 beds for when patient admission exceeds 13. We provide care for emergencies, trauma, general elective surgery, paediatrics and medical patients. The unit is very well equipped with state of the art technical equipment, with training programs provided by a dedicated Practice Development Nurse (PDN). All shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an in-person interview Main duties of the job As a fully established Junior Sister in Critical Care you will be expected to be able to deliver patient care autonomously and as part of the team. Support all member of staff in their duties and professional development. Competently co‑ordinate shifts ensuring that appropriate care is delivered, safety is maintained and issues are escalated appropriately. Supporting the running of the unit includes having a good understanding of the budget, being proactive in maintaining stock levels of medications and consumables and undertaking audit. Leading by example and demonstrating the trust values is essential. Main duties of this role include: To work within the NMC code, within policies, procedures and guidelines of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust. To ensure that high standards of nursing care are given and maintained, and act when standards are not met. Act as a clinical role model, ensuring clinical expertise and practice is enhanced. To recognise changes in patients' conditions which require the intervention of others and refer on as appropriate. Support the ward sister/charge nurse in ensuring the ward has appropriate Link nurses and support them undertaking that role. In the absence of the ward sisters/charge nurses monitor the 24-hour duty rota to maintain agreed staffing levels. About us There's never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH.
