Job SummaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Physiology team at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. We are seeking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic band 4 Associate Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist, working 30 hours per week (0.8 WTE). You will join a friendly multidisciplinary team and will be expected to be part of the night shift rota, overseeing patients attending for sleep studies.The post holder will help to deliver the provision of respiratory physiology testing within the Children's Hospital alongside the Lead Physiologists and Associate Physiologists, as well as providing a high quality sleep study service. It is essential that the successful applicant has an awareness of lung function testing, as well as a good science background preferably with a BSc in a relevant subject. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills are also required.Paediatric respiratory medicine at the Children's Hospital provides a tertiary service for children across the South West, including those with cystic fibrosis, asthma, neuromuscular disease, and those on long term ventilation.Main duties of the jobWe are looking for individuals with energy and enthusiasm who are committed to providing a high quality service. Previous experience in respiratory or sleep physiology investigations would be beneficial, however full training will be provided. You must be highly motivated, with an ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. You will have effective communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to adapt to a busy and varied workload.The post holder will be responsible for supporting an efficient and high quality service in Paediatric Respiratory Physiology and Sleep Medicine, and for providing the very best care for patients during their inpatient stay or outpatient visit.Supporting the provision of the Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Physiology service for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.Undertaking a range of lung function investigations on inpatients and outpatients (spirometry, FeNO, nasal NO and bronchodilator response assessments), gaining accurate and clinically valuable measurements.Facilitating the provision of sleep study investigations for inpatients and home sleep studies (overnight oximetry, overnight carbon dioxide monitoring and respiratory polygraphy), ensuring high quality data is captured.Maintaining equipment to ensure that it is functioning to agreed standards and specifications.Training in basic analysis and reporting of sleep studies, following departmental and international standards.About UsUniversity Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, bringing together a combined workforce of over 13,000 staff and over 100 different clinical services across 10 different sites, serving a core population of more than 500,000 people across South West England.
