OverviewJoin the 2026 UK Graduate Control & Instrumentation Engineering Career Path role at Mott MacDonald. This position is held at the Permanent Contract type, Full Time, and is located in Altrincham, Reading, and Glasgow. RoleAs a Graduate Control & Instrumentation Engineer, you will support the delivery of technical excellence and innovation within our Energy team. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will design, develop, and implement control system solutions that support sustainable and efficient engineering projects. ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop control system architectures, including programmable controllers and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).Contribute to Control System Philosophy documents and functional specifications.Produce engineering calculations, cause and effect matrices, and safety documentation.Create detailed diagrams: instrument location, hook‑up, termination, loop, and cable routing.Develop instrument data sheets, I/O schedules, and alarm schedules. Candidate SpecificationMinimum 12 months of relevant experience (excluding placements).Master’s degree (obtained no earlier than 2024) or expected to achieve a Master’s in one of the following disciplines:Electrical EngineeringInstrumentation and Control Engineering Strengths We Look ForProactively takes initiative to complete tasks efficiently and independently.Communicates effectively and clearly with clients and colleagues.Delivers high quality written work with attention to detail and clarity.Demonstrates a structured and analytical approach to problem solving.
