Chartership is supported and encouraged through CPD and mentoring and is a requirement for senior engineering roles in the organisation.We will provide you with all the training you need, exposure to projects, responsibility, and real engineering experience to maximise your talents as an engineer.PositionThe Role….We are looking to recruit a Principal Design Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Water design team. The successful candidate will join a growing team, with opportunity to shape the direction of an expanding business to meet the challenges of the AMP8 programme, as well as strategic development for AMP9 and beyond.The Principal Design Engineer (Mechanical) will have a client facing role. An example of some of the responsibilities for the role as the business needs require are as follows:Lead and develop a team of junior engineers, based in multiple locationsLead the mechanical design of water projects, including wastewater treatment, clean water treatment, industrial wastewater treatment, and biosolids treatmentDesign & project management from conceptual phase through to project completion, ensuring all designs are produced to applicable client standardsDevelopment of preliminary and detailed design calculations.Development of design drawings and specifications.Development of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design reports.Balance of plant design.Design and implementation of energy saving projects.Attend and participate in HAZID/ HAZOP and LOPA studiesThe Principal Design Engineer (Mechanical) will have the opportunity to progress their career within Fingleton White to be involved in the various business sectors to provide experience across a wide range of projects.The location for this role will be in our Birmingham office, however we will also consider applications for our Hemel Hempstead office, or our Kilkenny (Ireland) office.RequirementsThe Candidate….The ideal candidate will have:Engineering degree (Hons bachelors degree or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline relevant to the specification above.7+ years post-graduate and relevant design experience.Chartered Engineer (CEng) with relevant InstitutionExperience in the Water IndustryExcellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.Good academic recordFull clean driving license and own transport required.Fluent written and spoken English is essential.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.Other informationWhat we offer….An attractive remuneration package.Career progression in line with published plan and educational supportYear on year salary reviewsPaid Paternity & Maternity LeaveCompany mobile phoneContinuous Professional Development & Pathway to Chartership.Life AssuranceEmployee Assistance ProgrammeHybrid Working (remote and office) & Flexible Working PolicyGroup pension scheme with employer contributionProfessional Certifications, pathways to become a Chartered EngineerTeam wellness programmesParticipation in ESG activities such as sustainability initiatives, biodiversity committee, STEPS to Engineering, Women in Engineering initiativeTeam social outingsHow to apply….Please provide us with a CV which includes all relevant information including education details.
